Welcome to Relay AI
Relay AI is a real-world email rendering and intelligence system built for production teams.
Everything in this app is designed to answer one question:
“How will this email behave for actual subscribers?”
This guide explains every major feature in plain language: what it does, why it matters,
and how you can use it to ship better campaigns.
1. Loading an Email
Relay AI works by loading a real email preview link.
-
Paste the preview URL into the
“Email URL” field at the top of the left panel.
-
Click Load.
-
The app fetches the email’s HTML, renders it across devices, and prepares it for analysis.
You don’t need to know code. Just bring the preview link you already use for test sends.
2. Core Viewing Toggles
These switches let you simulate how real people experience your email:
-
Simulate dark mode:
Applies dark-mode rules similar to Gmail, Outlook, iOS Mail, and Apple Mail.
Useful for spotting logos or text that disappear on dark backgrounds.
-
Images off (layout only):
Simulates recipients who do not automatically download images.
Lets you see if your layout still makes sense and whether alt text is visible.
-
Show approximate fold line:
Draws a guide showing roughly what appears before the first scroll on common devices.
Helps you decide which content truly earns the top of the email.
3. Email Viewer & Favorites
Relay AI includes a built-in browser on the side so you can work directly with your preview links.
3.1 Email Viewer Browser
-
Navigate with Back, Forward, Reload,
and Home.
-
Paste any URL into the browser field to open it inside Relay AI.
-
Protected sites are fetched via a secure proxy so you can still validate links.
3.2 “Process Email” Flow
When you are viewing an email in the browser, you can send it into the main app:
-
Click Process Email in the browser.
-
Relay AI copies the browser URL into the main Email URL field,
loads it, and closes the browser drawer.
3.3 Favorites
Save your most-used preview links so you never have to dig for them again.
-
Click Click to Add to Favorites >.
-
Give the favorite a short name, such as “Weekend sale” or “Template – Welcome”.
If you leave the name empty, the URL is used as the label.
-
Use the dropdown in the browser to reopen any favorite in one click.
-
Use Delete favorite if a link is no longer needed.
4. Send Test Link
Use Send Test Link > to share an email preview with teammates without
leaving Relay AI.
-
Relay AI automatically fills in the correct preview URL from the browser/email you are working on.
-
Add your name, recipients, and an optional message.
-
Choose a tone:
QA (quality check),
Copy (wording review), or
Leadership (awareness/approval).
-
Send a clean, ready-to-forward email with the link embedded.
This is ideal for “Can you take a quick look?” requests to marketing, design, or leadership.
5. Health Dashboard
The Health tab gives a high-level rating of the email’s overall quality.
-
Overall score: A simple quality rating combining multiple factors.
-
HTML size & clipping: Warns you if the email is big enough to risk
Gmail clipping the bottom.
-
Images & alt text: Counts images, missing alt attributes,
and empty alt text.
-
Headings & structure: Checks if your headings and document
layout are reasonable.
-
Links & tracking: Highlights issues with URLs, tracking tags,
and click-through hygiene.
You don’t have to read code: the scorecard translates technical checks
into clear, everyday language.
6. Detailed Issue List
Below the score, Relay AI lists specific issues it found in your email.
-
Each issue shows a color bar (for severity), a short title, and a simple explanation.
-
You’ll see what is wrong, why it matters,
and what to fix.
-
Examples include missing alt text, very large images, untracked marketing links,
and structural HTML problems that can cause rendering glitches.
Use this area as your “fix this first” checklist before sending a campaign.
7. Links & Tracking Scanner
Relay AI inspects every link in the email, including those hidden behind tracking redirects.
-
Shows each link’s visible text and its final resolved URL.
-
Groups links by host (e.g., website, help center, external partners).
-
Identifies links with UTM tracking and those without.
-
Flags tracking pixels and unusual redirects.
This is especially useful when your ESP uses protected or encoded click-tracking URLs —
Relay AI follows those links to reveal the true destination.
8. Inbox Preview Simulator
See how your email appears in the inbox before anyone opens it.
-
Shows subject line, preheader, and sender name as they would appear
in Gmail, Outlook, and mobile inboxes.
-
Highlights when your preheader is missing, repeated, or too long.
-
Helps you spot “wasted” inbox space that could be used for value or urgency.
9. A/B Subject Line Tester
Compare two subject line ideas side by side.
-
Enter a Version A and Version B (and optional preheaders).
-
Let the AI explain which one is likely stronger and why.
-
Use the commentary to refine tone, clarity, and focus.
This is handy for quick creative debates: “Will this actually work better for our subscribers?”
10. Client Profile Views
Different email clients behave differently. Relay AI lets you preview those differences.
- Gmail Desktop / Web
- Gmail Mobile
- Outlook Desktop
- Outlook Web
- Apple Mail
- Phone and tablet frames in portrait and landscape
This helps you catch layout shifts, font changes, and dark-mode surprises that only show up in specific clients.
11. Headers & Deliverability Checker
Paste full email headers into the headers box to get a human-friendly breakdown.
- Checks SPF, DKIM, and DMARC status.
- Points out obvious spam red flags.
- Shows how the email was routed.
You don’t need to “speak headers” — the tool translates them into simple explanations.
12. Rendering Lab (Full-Screen Drawer)
The Rendering Lab is a dedicated, full-window space focused on visual differences between clients.
-
Open it from the Rendering Lab button near the main Insights controls.
-
Compare two clients side by side (for example Gmail iOS vs Outlook Desktop).
-
Toggle between clients or animate switching to see layout shifts in motion.
Use this when you want to deeply inspect how a layout behaves, not just glance at it.
13. Insights Panel
The Insights panel is a compact assistant that summarizes what matters most in your current email.
- Highlights top risks and quick wins.
- Summarizes clipping risk, tracking coverage, and accessibility status.
- Stays docked so you can refer to it while scrolling and testing.
Treat it as the “short version” of all the analytics and AI checks running behind the scenes.
14. AI Tools Tab
The AI Tools tab gives you focused, email-aware AI assistance.
-
Deep Scan: Full review of CTAs, copy clarity, layout stability,
and potential compliance issues.
-
Copy & CTA suggestions: AI rewrites to improve clarity,
urgency, and click-through appeal.
-
Spam & deliverability notes: Common red flags and suggestions
to avoid them.
-
Accessibility & dark-mode guidance: Suggestions focused on
readability and inclusivity.
Each section includes a “Copy all” button so you can quickly move suggestions into your ESP or docs.
15. Persona Simulator
Personas let you see the email through different types of readers.
- Mobile-first scanner: Someone scrolling quickly on their phone.
- Accessibility-sensitive user: A reader who needs clear contrast and structure.
- Outlook corporate user: Someone in a locked-down corporate environment.
- Gmail promotions tab: How the email behaves among many competing promos.
- Headline-only “skimmer”: A reader who only glances at bold text and CTAs.
- Dark-mode-only viewer: Someone who always uses dark mode on devices.
For each persona, Relay AI explains:
where they are likely to pause, what they will probably ignore,
and which CTAs or sections are at risk of being missed.
16. Smart Auto-Fix
Auto-Fix generates a list of specific, safe improvements you can make.
- Alt-text suggestions for images that are missing descriptions.
- Recommendations for resizing overly large images.
- Tracking and UTM suggestions for important links.
- Guidance on dark-mode adjustments and structural clean-ups.
The app does not change your HTML automatically; it gives you a clear checklist and proposed text
so you stay in full control of your templates.
17. AI Reporting Drawer
The AI Reporting drawer generates a structured summary you can share with others.
- Executive summary of the email’s strengths and risks.
- Health score breakdown with explanations.
- Design and layout notes.
- Accessibility and dark-mode commentary.
- Links and tracking snapshot.
You can copy the report text or save it to PDF for circulation.
18. Chat Drawer (Relay Chat)
The Chat drawer is a ChatGPT-style assistant built into Relay AI.
-
Opens from the Chat button and slides in from the right.
-
Streams answers in real time, just like modern AI chat tools.
-
Offers a New Chat button to start a fresh conversation.
18.1 Context Modes
-
Ask about this email: The AI has access to the currently loaded email HTML
and can speak directly about its structure, issues, and layout.
-
General chat: The AI behaves like a general assistant and does not assume
it can see your email unless you paste content.
18.2 Model Selection
Choose between different AI providers (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) from the dropdown.
This lets you pick the style and speed that best fits your work.
18.3 Per-Email History
Relay Chat remembers conversations per email:
-
Each email URL has its own history, so when you return to a test, the chat feels “in context”.
-
General chat has its own history for broader questions.
19. Zoom, Devices, and Screenshots
The preview area offers a handful of small but powerful controls:
-
Zoom slider: Zoom in or out to inspect fine details or see the whole layout at once.
-
Device grids: Switch between desktop, phone, and tablet frames.
-
Screenshots: Capture the current state for documentation and internal sharing.
20. Sign-In & Splash Screen
Relay AI uses the same account you already use for the Domcell Electron suite.
-
Sign in once with your existing Domcell credentials.
-
The splash screen initializes device frames, dark-mode logic, and AI engines before you start.
21. Practical Best Practices
- Always compare at least one Gmail view and one Outlook view before sending.
- Keep HTML lean to avoid Gmail clipping important content.
- Ensure every meaningful image has helpful alt text.
- Use UTMs on marketing CTAs so your analytics are trustworthy.
- Avoid putting critical copy inside background images only.
22. About Relay AI
Relay AI is engineered inside Domcell Labs to help real teams ship real campaigns with less guesswork.
Use it as your daily “second set of eyes” on every send: rendering, tracking, accessibility,
and strategy — all in one place.
